Tubing in Laos

Lovely day with brilliant sunshine today, so met up with a guy Pete who resembles Ricky Gervais and the group he had met yesterday. An English brother and sister Tom and Rachel. Tom talks just like Harry Potter, so I had Ricky Gervais on one side and Harry Potter on the other, Scottish Rory who sounded like Dylan Moran, even though he’s a Scot! And Dan from London. They were all early 20’s, and fantastic people. Pete’s mid 30’s. We Read the rest of this entry »

Look, Nerd, Get Him!

Years ago the nerd would, in extreme situations, be hunted down and killed for his not being manly enough; that was in the age of the cave-man nerd—the nerd who, instead of going out hunting with the rest of the men, stayed back at camp and tried to work out what was interesting about a stone shaped like a disc–.

Then came more freakish nerd incantations, and, after great evolution, a race of glasses wearing skinny misfits—their only purpose in Read the rest of this entry »

My Wacom Tablet!

My Wacom Tablet!

There are so many great gadgets out there already, and great ones that are coming out soon. Some help us navigate, plan our days, book our holidays and make living life that little bit easier. However, no gadget has impressed me, or made such a big difference in my life as my Intuos 3 Wacom Tablet.

I love this thing, it is simply fantastic. As a budding artist, and a digital one at that, I had to find a tablet Read the rest of this entry »

Being A Legend

Citizen Smith, what an absolute classic that show was! And, as such, you can’t help but wonder what Robert Lindsay, star of the show, might be up to these days (I know, he’s in My Family, but I mean, what’s he up to in his life).

(At least I hope that’s what this person meant; he’s not been forgotten yet! We still love you mate!)

I wonder what Robert Lindsay Read the rest of this entry »

Great White shark diving

Saturday 4th April 2009 - the shark dive day!!! Was not feeling nervous at all. I’ve thrown myself off tall ledges into canyons, out of planes and this was not scaring me at all, I was just way too excited. We got the boat when it was still dark at 6.30am, and there were 15 passengers including us. It was a 2 hour ride out to Neptune Island which is where they anchor, as its a seal colony on the Read the rest of this entry »

Swimming with Whale Sharks in Australia

Tuesday 2nd June 2009 - went on a snorkelling with the Whale Sharks trip. The crew were lovely, and we went on a boat in Ningaloo Reef, and first off started with some snorkelling over the reef. I didn’t really get to see much of the Great Barrier Reef due to bad weather, but most people say the GBR has had its day now, its dying due to all the tourists and Ningaloo Reef is much better. Well I was Read the rest of this entry »

Adventures in New Zealand

Saturday 8th November 2008 - today me, Shelley and Sarah went Zorbing in Rotorua, which consists of getting in a large hamster type ball which is full of water and rolling down a hill. It looked a bit tame from the top, but us 3 all got in together and its one of the most fun things I’ve done. To get in you fly like superman through the entrance, and Shelley and Sarah managed to get in a standing position Read the rest of this entry »

Nevis Bungy jump and Canyon swing - Queenstown/ New Zealand

Friday 21st November 2008 - got up this morning and booked in for the bungy at 9.45am. This is the highest bungy in NZ, and the worlds 3rd highest jump at 134 meters. I have always sworn on my life that I would never do a bungy as the thought scared the living daylights out of me, I would have rather cuddled a tarantula - and I am an arachnophobic, so I though hell why not, and if I’m going Read the rest of this entry »

A Hero’s Price.

What a terrible and tragic story this is. A man stabbed to death because he tried to stop two thieves.

If you saw a young woman having her handbag snatched would you be able to just stand and do nothing? Or would you do what this brave man did and give chase? Until it happens to you (which I hope it never does) there is no way of knowing quite how you would react. We are always warned that it is safer to leave the authorities to handle situations like this but sometimes this is easier said than done. After all, we are all human beings and we all act on instincts.

Now I just hope that the police manage to catch the two men responsible for this awful attack; and that it is sooner rather than later. People like this are too dangerous to be wandering around our streets. Who knows what else they might do? And next time it could turn out to be even worse.

My heart really does go out to the families of Sukhwinder Singh. He gave his life trying to help someone. It may be that he has died as a hero, but that will not make it any easier for the people he has left behind.

Sukhwinder may have acted rashly by chasing the thieves but what he did was incredibly brave. If it had just been one man that he had pursued then it would have heroic but to go after two was amazing. I wonder what our society would be like if there were more people who were so willing to help others who were in trouble. One thing is for sure, there would be a lot fewer crimes committed. If a thief had to worry about all the people who may try to catch him, then surely he would think twice.

By the way the Ski chalet holidays booking has been looked after everybody (by yours truley I may add), I am really excited about our long weekend trip. I need part of the overall cost by early next week, so everyone please pay me!
